About the position

The School of Economics and Business at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) has a vacant two-year postdoctoral position in environmental valuation, in cooperation with the Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA), with the possibility of a three-years position with 2/3 of time for research and 1/3 for teaching and supervision in environmental and resource economics.

The research position is connected to the Research Council of Norway project “Participatory Modelling of Integrated Ecosystem-based Management Regime for Invasive Crabs (PICO)”, but the research fellow is also expected to contribute to supervision of Master and Ph.D. students working on the PICO project and related environmental economics and valuation projects.

Main tasks

The main tasks of the candidate will be to undertake development and design of Stated Preference survey instruments (especially Choice Experiments), conduct focus groups, pre-testing, and internet panel surveys; as well as econometric modelling of the results and preparation of inputs for bioeconomic modelling.

We expect the candidate to have a strong focus in her/his research on environmental and resource economics, with a special emphasis on environmental valuation, and to aim for publication in top-tier journals in environmental and resource economics.

Qualification requirements, desired experiences, knowledge and personal qualities

Required academic qualification

  • A completed PhD in Economics, Econometrics, Environmental Economics, Resource Economics, or related areas.
  • Proficiency in a Scandinavian language (Norwegian, Danish or Swedish), spoken and written
  • Proficiency in English, spoken and written

Desired qualifications

  • Practical experience with Stated Preference surveys; especially Choice Experiments, including design and econometric modelling
  • A track record of publishing in high quality journals
  • Relevant experience in teaching and student supervision

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work in cross-disciplinary teams

Remuneration and further information

The selected candidate will be appointed as a postdoctoral fellow, wage framework 24 (salary grade 59-72) (NOK 523.200-667.200), depending on qualifications.
