Highly motivated scientist/senior scientist within human toxicology – permanent position
About position
NILU is seeking a highly motivated scientist/senior scientist to work in the research field of human toxicology.
NILU offers a permanent position at the section for Health Effects Laboratory of the department of Environmental Chemistry. The department aims at contributing to a healthy and zero-pollution environment and a green transition by performing project-based research and being a research provider at the forefront of human toxicology and environmental chemistry. We focus on research related to human hazard and risk assessment of chemicals, particulate matter and nano-/advanced materials, chemical management and trace level analysis of organic and inorganic contaminants in the whole environment. We offer a very advanced and extensive infrastructure, and high-quality research in Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) certified and ISO accredited laboratories. Our research portfolio covers high profile projects at both national and international levels.
The Health Effects Laboratory is doing in vitro toxicity testing for hazard identification and characterization of chemicals and particulate matter in standard and advanced in vitro models., with focus on nano- and advanced materials. Main research areas are genotoxicity, mutagenicity and carcinogenicity.
We are looking for a candidate who loves toxicological research and experimental work in the laboratory with good communication skills and a positive attitude to work and colleagues, who will contribute to strengthen the position of NILU as a leading research institute within human hazard assessment and a zero-pollution environment. You will use your toxicological expertise to contribute to the work in the Health Effects Laboratory, as well as acquire and implement research projects in the field. We are further seeking a person with an interest in making an impact through scientific and public dissemination of results.

Qualification requirements
PhD in toxicology or other relevant field (e.g. cell biology, molecular biology)
Relevant experience with cell culture work and in vitro hazard identification and characterization
Knowledge in advanced models, genotoxicity and nanosafety preferred
Proficient English (written and oral). Norwegian is not a requirement, but we recommend that the successful candidate focuses on learning the language (spoken and written) after appointment.
We have extensive collaboration with national and international research institutes and universities, so travel activities are to be expected as part of the work. The position is permanent and located at NILUs office in Kjeller.
