The professor position is accompanied by one researcher and two PhD positions, and will become a part of the UiA battery strategy which co-creates a competence hub for lithium-ion battery research and development in close exchange and collaboration with local industry partners in the south of Norway (e.g., Vianode, Morrow Batteries, Norner, Glencore Nikkelverk). Starting date is to be negotiated with the faculty.
We are looking for battery researchers with outstanding international track record in analysis, development, and simulation of commercial lithium-ion batteries. Willingness and ability to attract third-party funding must be evident.
The research focus should lie in at least three of the following areas:
Cell design development of lithium-ion batteries.
Industrial manufacturing processes for batteries.
Quality control and design-optimization for battery production.
System and module-level integration strategies.
Thermal and mechanical properties of commercial batteries.
Battery monitoring and control algorithms.
Data analysis for SoH assessment and lifetime prediction.
Failure mitigation/early warning strategies in commercial batteries.
The candidate is expected to play an active role in the development of the growing research activity in electrochemistry and lithium-ion batteries at the battery coast. We are looking for a highly motivated research fellow interested in shaping his/her own project as well as contributing to the future research directions of the battery activities at UiA.
The applicant will play a central role in the interdisciplinary programs in battery technology that are currently established (BSc and MSc). The ability to give lectures on, e.g., Battery Management Systems, Battery Production, and/or Simulation of Electrochemical Systems in English is expected.
Required qualifications
PhD degree in electrical engineering, physical sciences, material sciences, information technology or related field.
(Co-)Authorship of scientific publications / scientific presentations in the research areas outlined above.
Experience in commercial lithium-ion cell analysis, production, simulation, or related field.
The positions are remunerated according to the State Salary Scale, salary plan salary plan 17.510, code 1013 and code 1532 Professor, NOK 728 100 – 948 900 gross salary per year. A compulsory pension contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund is deducted from the pay according to current statutory provisions.
