Ledig stilling på Universitetet i Oslo

Post doctoral position: Epigenetic and epitranscriptomic regulation of early Embryo Development

Deadline: 22.04.2026

The University of Oslo is Norway’s oldest and highest ranked educational and research institution, with 26 500 students and 7 200 employees. With its broad range of academic disciplines and internationally recognised research communities, UiO is an important contributor to society.

The Institute of Clinical Medicine (Klinmed) is one of three institutes under the Faculty. Klinmed is responsible for the Faculty's educational and research activities at Oslo University Hospital and Akershus University Hospital. With about 900 employees spread over approximately 425 man-labour years, Klinmed is the university's largest institute. Our activities follow the clinical activity at the hospitals and are spread across a number of geographical areas.

About the position

A three-year post doc position is available at Clinical Medicine, The Medical Faculty, University of Oslo, within the interdisciplinary research project GENESIS – Gene–Epigenome–Active Matter Nexus in Early Embryogenesis, part of the UiO Life Science Convergence Environment. The position will also be integrated with CRESCO Centre for Embryology and Healthy Development.

Early embryogenesis is a critical stage in which gene regulation, collective cell dynamics and mechanical forces interact to drive blastocyst formation, embryonic axis establishment, and cell fate specification. This post doc position (Epigenetic and Epitranscriptomic regulation of Early Embryo Development) aims to experimentally map novel and known gene-regulation activities required for healthy embryo development. The project is highly interdisciplinary spanning advanced microscopy, gene regulation, active matter physics, and computational biology.

The post doc will:

  • Explore the role of known gene-regulatory mechanisms for healthy embryo development.
  • Identify novel gene-regulatory mechanism that is required for the mechanical and dynamical behavior of the growing embryo.
  • Closely interact with PhD fellows and post docs on the project that is focusing on advanced imaging, active matter physics and computational Biology.
  • The candidate will also access and contribute to state‑of‑the‑art microscopy platforms.
  • A postdoctoral position is intended for the employee to develop a research profile and competence that qualifies them to apply for an Associate Professor position. The position may also provide other competencies relevant to the postdoctoral fellow's future career.

The candidate will be located together with CRESCO at SINTEF, Forskningsveien 1. We will relocate to the new Life Science Building in January 2027.
