About the position

A 100 % PhD position in applied biotechnology is available at Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences (INN), Faculty of Applied Ecology, Agricultural Sciences and Biotechnology. The position will run for 3 years, starting in September 2023. The candidate will be enrolled in INN’s PhD program in applied ecology and biotechnology, with workplace at Campus Hamar.

About the project

The PhD project will be included in Centre for Embryology and Healthy Development – CRESCO.

CRESCO is a new Norwegian Centre of Excellence affiliated with the Medical Faculty at the University of Oslo (UiO) in collaboration with Oslo University Hospital (OUH) and INN at Hamar.

An overarching goal of the Centre is to understand the role of epigenetic and epitranscriptomic information in the passing of life from one generation to the next in the One Health perspective. Livestock will add a crucial dimension, especially as the breeding focus for several decades has resulted in Norwegian cattle and swine being world-leaders in reproductive efficacy. CRESCO combine complementary expertise on epigenetic and epitranscriptomic modifications, DNA repair and genome (in)stability, single-cell and single-nucleotide analysis, embryology and healthy development.

The species to be included in the PhD project are e.g. cattle, swine and mice, and possible techniques are e.g. in vitro fertilization, ICSI, Chip-Seq.

The candidate’s main supervisor will be Professor Elisabeth Kommisrud. Co-supervisors will be selected from CRESCO partners depending on the final PhD project proposal.
