A three-year full time PhD Research fellowship (position code 1017) in molecular biology and medical sciences in medicine is available at Department of Immunology, Institute of Clinical Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo.

More about the position

The project (Vaccines that induce broadly protective antibodies against influenza) is located to the research group of Dr. Gunnveig Grødeland at the Department of Immunology, but with one year planned exchange to the Scripps Research Institute in San Diego.

The position is created to work on a project related to characterization of antibodies that can confer broad protection against influenza, and to develop novel vaccine strategies for induction of broad immunity. The project will use cutting edge technologies within molecular biology and immunology.

The research fellow must take part in the PhD program of the Medical faculty at the University of Oslo and is expected to complete the project and to follow the PhD program at the Medical faculty in order to obtain a PhD. The main purpose of the fellowship is research training leading to the successful completion of a PhD degree.

Qualification requirements

  • applicants must hold a Master’s degree in a relevant area, and preferable have knowledge in molecular biology and/or immunology
  • are hard working and curious about development of influenza vaccines
  • have an interest in immunology
  • have completed a masters degree or an MD degree (or foreign equivalent degrees)
  • have a background in molecular biology or medicine
  • are structured and responsible
  • contributes with enthusiasm to working in an ambitious team
  • are fluent in written and spoken English
