About the position

The Faculty of Humanities, Sports and Educational Science has a vacancy for a position as Postdoctoral Fellow in English didactics from 01.02.2021. The area of research is English language teaching and learning in a Norwegian context, related to the new national curriculum and its implementation. The aim of the position is to strengthen research within this area. The appointee will be expected to make an important contribution to ongoing research at the department. S/he may also be expected to do some teaching and supervision.

The position is associated with the Department of Languages and Literature Studies and reports to the Head of Department. The place of employment is Vestfold.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a Norwegian doctorate or equivalent education abroad in English, or preferably, in English didactics. The applicant must have gained the degree within the application deadline.

The letter of application must include a project plan (max. 10 pages) with a detailed description of how the fellowship will help strengthen research within the area of English teaching and learning and help the applicant build up her/his academic competence.

Co-operation between staff members is an integrated part of the working atmosphere at the University of South-Eastern Norway. The candidate must be motivated and demonstrate a proven ability to work effectively within a team and in a collegiate manner to formulate and realise common objectives.

Personal suitability for the position will be emphasized.

About the position

The position will be related to ongoing research in the field of English didactics at USN. The appointee should make active contributions to one or more of the research groups which range in focus from Classroom research and Teaching and learning materials to Plurilingualism and Diversity in Education. Another relevant research group is TEPEE (Studies of the teaching profession, teacher education and education policy), which operates in conjunction with Oslo Metropolitan University.

The appointment is for a term of 3 years.

Salary

Postdoctoral fellow (postdoktor) (code 1352): NOK 508 800 – 650 200 a year, depending on seniority. In special cases, higher salary may be considered. A statutory contribution will be made from the employee’s salary to the state pension plan.

The Academic Appointments Board is responsible for appointments to academic positions at University College of Southeast Norway. An expert assessment of applicants will be carried out.
