The group is located at the Institute for Cancer Research, the Norwegian Radium Hospital, Oslo University Hospital.

Organization and research focus

The position is funded by the University of Oslo under the project “SCULPTING of cellular membranes by capillary forces”, an interdisciplinary project aimed at understanding molecular and biophysical mechanisms that shape double cellular membranes, with emphasis on autophagosome biogenesis.

More about the position

The postdoctoral researcher will combine biochemical and molecular biological methods to study mechanisms of autophagosome biogenesis. Central methodology involves generation of recombinant and knock-out cell lines, western blotting, protein purification, and advanced light microscopy. The candidate will collaborate with experts in electron microscopy, mathematical modelling, and biophysics.

Qualification requirements

  • Applicants must hold a degree equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree in molecular biology, cell biology or equivalent
  • Extensive experience with confocal microscopy, immunofluorescence, live cell imaging, image analysis with pipeline building for quantification.
  • Strong background in molecular biology, including CRISPR technology
  • Extensive experience with cell culture, viral transduction and establishment of stable cell lines.
  • Good organizational skills
