The School of Economics, Innovation, and Technology delivers research and study programmes at bachelor, master and PhD level. Computer science, software engineering, information systems and the interaction between technology and human beings are other exciting focus areas.

Additionally, the department is expanding its online offers and offers in further and continuing education in cooperation with working life. The department has well-established research groups and research labs at a high international level.

About the position

We are seeking a new staff member for a full-time position as Professor in Information Technology/Computer Science. Desired starting date is 1 January 2025 (or by agreement).

The successful candidate will strengthen our research, educational profile, and the PhD programme in Applied Information Technology. The position requires candidates with a passion for research and teaching, curiosity, and good problem-solving skills. The employed candidate will be expected to establish, lead, conduct and collaborate in research projects at high international quality. Research is expected to be anchored within the field of Information Technology relevant for our PhD programme within the fields of Software Engineering, Information Technology and/or Computer Science. Experience from research management or academic management is an advantage and engagement in the international research community is expected. The candidate for this position will be selected based on excellence and fit with the school’s teaching and research profile.

Functions

  • Actively carry out research, publishing, and academically related self-development
  • Initiate, lead and participate in research projects, including securing external funding
  • Participation in planning, teaching, coaching and supervision on all levels.
  • Involvement in educational development work and development of study programmes

Applicants must be able to document the following:

  • Norwegian doctoral degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or an adjacent field or a corresponding foreign doctoral degree recognized as equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree or competence at a corresponding level documented by academic work of the same scope and quality
  • Experience from supervision, teaching and/or programme management at the college or university level
  • Experience from participation in research projects and experience with participation in national and international research networks
  • Experience in obtaining externally funded research projects
  • Documented development of the quality of one’s pedagogical competences and guidance
  • Documented competence in relevant educational theory and practice based on training or on teaching and supervision
  • Candidates must have a strong scientific record of scholarly publications in top international journals.
  • Candidates must demonstrate previous success in acquiring external research funding.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a similar position
  • Fluent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Lecturing at Kristiania University College requires the candidate to speak a Scandinavian language. An exception can be made if the candidate is motivated to develop the skills to conduct lectures in a Scandinavian language within three years

Applicants should document any pedagogical and/or didactic competences regarding higher education and the development of skills in lecturing and student guidance. If the successful candidate does not satisfy the requirements, he or she will have to complete the Kristiania University College’s course for pedagogical base competence (10 study points) within a two-year period after starting the position.
