Oslo University Hospital (OUH) is Norway’s largest hospital with over 20 000 employees and a budget of 20 billion NOK. It is a local hospital for parts of Oslo's population. It has a regional function for the inhabitants in the South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority, and it also has a large number of national functions. The Hospital is responsible for the majority of medical research and education of health personnel in Norway.

A permanent 100% position as Senior Consultant is available at Department of Urology at the Division of Surgery, Inflammatory Diseases and Transplantation, Oslo University Hospital (OUS). The position is affiliated with a part time position as Adjunct Professor II/Associate Professor (20 % position) in Medicine (Urology) at the Institute of Clinical Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo (UiO). It is required that the position holder attends to both positions.

Regarding the full-time clinical position at OUS:

Department of Urology in OUS is Norway’s largest competence center in urology and is responsible for patient treatment at three main sites within OUS; Aker, Radiumhospitalet and Rikshospitalet and the applicant must accept work duties at all sites. There are 3 Senior Consultant positions in the department with an adjungated, part-time (20%) professor II/adjunct professor position. The Department of Urology has a large volume of activity within three main fields: urologic cancer, neuro- and reconstructive urology and general urology including stones and infections. The applicant is expected to take a leading position clinically as well as scientifically within one of the department’s key expertise areas.

Tasks

  • The working tasks will be allocated according to applicant qualifications and department needs.
  • The applicant is expected to contribute to training of clinical fellows, run courses and participate in quality improvement routines.
  • The applicant is expected to participate in the on-call roster of the department.
  • The applicant must be prepared to perform clinical work at all sites within OUH.

Qualification requirements

  • The applicant must possess a Norwegian specialist accreditation in urology.
  • The applicant should have broad and extensive experience in the field of urology.
  • The applicant must have relevant research experience and a strong motivation to contribute to the ongoing and new research activities at the department.

Personal qualifications

  • Personal qualifications of the applicant, including documented collaborative skills, will be important.
  • The applicant must be able to work efficiently and conscientiously.
  • The applicant must be capable of empathic communication with patients and their families. Documented language skills in Norwegian or a compatible Scandinavian language is required.
