SINTEF Industry, department of Sustainable Energy Technology, is seeking Research Scientist – ceramic processing and high temperature electrochemical reactors and batteries

The research group Thin Film and Membrane Technology works on developing advanced materials and components and improving solutions for sustainable energy technologies. We have a substantial portfolio of national and international research and innovation projects within areas such as high temperature fuel cells, electrolysers, inorganic membranes for H2, O2 and CO2 gas separation, electroceramics for MEMS and sensors, solid state batteries and oxide-based thermoelectrics.

We seek creative candidates at a MSc or PhD level to strengthen our research team and are looking for enthusiastic research scientists that work systematically, have highly developed analytical capabilities, are proactive and solution oriented.

Responsibilities

As a Research Scientist, you will be working in interdisciplinary teams on several projects with partners in Norway and/or abroad. Our project portfolio encompasses national research projects, EU projects and direct projects with industry. Depending on your qualifications and level of experience, you will be expected to contribute to project development, work with industry customers and other partners and manage projects.

Qualifications

You should enjoy working in project teams that sometimes must meet tight deadlines. Furthermore, you are customer- and solution oriented, and you do not hesitate to take the initiative. You can work systematically and have excellent experimental and analytical skills. SINTEF places high demands on scientific and financial results, whilst at the same time providing for and facilitating your personal development.

The candidate should have experience within several of the following areas:

• MSc or PhD in ceramic processing, materials science, chemistry, solid state physics or related disciplines
• Powder synthesis and conditioning
• Ceramic processing and shaping using techniques such as extrusion, tape-casting, wet coating processes, physical deposition methods, additive manufacturing techniques etc.
• Fabrication of multilayered systems, including - but not limited to – fuel cells, membranes, electroceramics for MEMS and sensors, solid state batteries and oxide-based thermoelectrics, etc.
• Sintering
• Rheology
• Safe operation, calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment,
• Ability to build and maintain scientific and customer networks, and understand the need of the market
• Experience in writing research proposals
• Ability to communicate well in Norwegian and/or English, both orally and written

SINTEF Industri, Avdeling for bærekraftig energiteknologi, søker forsker - keramisk prosessering og høytemperatur elektrokjemiske reaktorer og batterier

Forskningsgruppen Tynnfilm- og membranteknologi arbeider med å utvikle avanserte materialer og komponenter og forbedre løsninger for bærekraftig energiteknologi. Vi har en betydelig portefølje av nasjonale og internasjonale forsknings- og innovasjonsprosjekter innen områder som høytemperaturbrenselceller, elektrolysører, uorganiske membraner for H2-, O2- og CO2-separasjon, elektrokeramer for MEMS og sensorer, faststoffbatterier og oksidbaserte termoelektriske elementer.

Ansvar

Som forsker vil du jobbe i tverrfaglige team på flere prosjekter med partnere i Norge og/eller i utlandet. Prosjektporteføljen vår omfatter nasjonale forskningsprosjekter, EU-prosjekter og direkte prosjekter med industrien. Avhengig av dine kvalifikasjoner og erfaringsnivå, forventes det at du vil bidra til prosjektutvikling, jobbe med bedriftskunder og andre partnere og lede prosjekter.

Kvalifikasjoner

Du bør like å jobbe i prosjektgrupper som noen ganger må overholde stramme tidsfrister. Videre er du kunde- og løsningsorientert, og du nøler ikke med å ta initiativet. Du evner å jobbe systematisk og har gode eksperimentelle og analytiske ferdigheter. SINTEF stiller høye krav til vitenskapelige og økonomiske resultater, samtidig som vi legger til rette for din personlige utvikling.

Kandidaten skal ha erfaring innen flere av følgende områder:

• Master- eller doktorgrad i keramisk prosessering, materialvitenskap, kjemi, faststoffysikk eller relaterte fagfelt
• Pulversyntese og pulverbehandling
• Keramisk bearbeiding og forming ved hjelp av f. eks. ekstrudering, tape casting, våtkjemisk beleggteknologi, fysiske deponeringsmetoder, additiv tilvirkning, etc.
• Fremstilling av flersjikt-systemer, inkludert - men ikke begrenset til - brenselceller, membraner, elektrokeramer for MEMS og sensorer, fastfasebatterier og oksidbaserte termoelektriske elementer
• Sintring
• Reologi
• Sikker drift, kalibrering og vedlikehold av laboratorieutstyr
• Evne til å bygge og opprettholde vitenskapelige og kunderettede nettverk, og forstå markedets behov
• Erfaring med å skrive prosjektsøknader
• Evne til å kommunisere godt på norsk og/eller engelsk, både muntlig og skriftlig
