Deadline: 23.09.2024

Universitetet i Oslo

The University of Oslo is Norway’s oldest and highest ranked educational and research institution, with 28 000 students and 7000 employees. With its broad range of academic disciplines and internationally recognised research communities, UiO is an important contributor to society.

The Institute of Clinical Medicine (Klinmed) is one of three institutes under the Faculty. Klinmed is responsible for the Faculty's educational and research activities at Oslo University Hospital and Akershus University Hospital. With about 800 employees spread over approximately 425 man-labour years, Klinmed is the university's largest institute. Our activities follow the clinical activity at the hospitals and are spread across a number of geographical areas.

Diakonhjemmet Hospital is a private, not-profit hospital with defined responsibilities for the health care system both in Oslo, in the health region as well as nationally. The Hospital has a local function for parts of Oslo's population. Division of Rheumatology and Research has responsibility for people with rheumatic joint diseases living in the entire area of Oslo and a regional function for the inhabitants in the South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority. A national highly specialized function is organized within the division: The Norwegian National Unit for Rehabilitation for Rheumatic Patients with Special Needs. The Department has since 2008 held the position as EULAR Center of Excellence and has, in addition to patient care, a strong focus on clinical and epidemiological research, education and information to patients and their relatives. In 2022 we established the REMEDY center, a Norwegian Centre for Clinical Treatment Research focusing on rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases, supported by the Norwegian Research Council and The Olav Thon Foundation. The overarching aim of the REMEDY center is to improve treatment of rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases by randomized clinical trials assessing novel treatment and treatment strategies, in combination with research and innovation to untangle the causes and characteristics of these diseases.
