Centre for Molecular Medicine Norway (NCMM) was established in 2008 and is the Norwegian node in the Nordic EMBL Partnership for Molecular Medicine. NCMM is a joint venture between the University of Oslo, Health Region South-East and the Research Council of Norway. From 2017 NCMM is merged with the Biotechnology Centre of Oslo and now has altogether 11 research groups. The overall objective of NCMM is to conduct cutting edge research in molecular medicine and biotechnology as well as facilitate translation of discoveries in basic medical research into clinical practice.
Centre for Molecular Medicine Norway – Section Manager (SKO1211)

NCMM is seeking experienced and self-driven candidates for the role of Head of Research Strategy, Communication, and International Relations.
We are seeking highly motivated individuals who can work independently and accurately and deliver under tight deadlines. The successful candidate must be able to interact closely with and support the Centre Director and the Associate Director in developing the Centre’s scientific strategy and excellence and national and international networks. Furthermore, the successful candidate will assist the Director in evaluation processes, contribute to reporting at a Centre level, oversee the Centre’s communication and dissemination activities and contribute to the planning of NCMM’s move into the new life science building.
The Section Manager will work closely with the NCMM Director, the Head of Office and the group leaders to contribute to daily activities at the Centre, as well as internationally with EMBL and our sister centers in Denmark, Finland, and Sweden. The position is permanent and externally funded.
As Head of Research Strategy, Communication, and International Relations at NCMM you will be:
- Assisting the Director in strategically important processes such as evaluations, recruitments, reporting, grant applications and planning the move into the new University of Oslo life science building
- Facilitating interactions with stakeholders
- Facilitating national and international networking and research collaborations
- Overseeing all NCMM communication and dissemination activities by supervising the communication and network coordinators
- Attending and coordinating regular meetings and events (e.g. NCMM Board meetings and EMBL Partnership meetings)
- Assuring the Centre’s compliance with relevant research regulation
- Contributing to the Centre’s administration together with the administrative team
- A Masters Degree in science or technology and hands-on experience in research. Experience from similar work can replace this formal requirement.
- Strong organisational and project management skills
- Fluent written and spoken English at a high level
- Resourceful, confident, enthusiastic, and diplomatic
- Evidence of being able to work independently and being proactive
- Self-motivated: looking for a challenge and ready to make an immediate impact
- A PhD degree in science or technology will be a strong advantage
- Written and spoken knowledge of one Scandinavian language is an advantage
- Experience with strategic research administration
- Experience in writing centre level reports and/or grant applications
- Knowledge of the University of Oslo administrative systems

The successful candidate for the position will be offered a permanent contract. The position will be included in the Norwegian health insurance and retirement pension schemes and placed as SKO (1211) Section Manager with salary range 692 400 - 870 900 NOK per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
