The Faculty of Technolgoy, Natural Sciences and Maritime Sciences have a vacancy for a temporary position as Postdoctoral Fellow in Cybersecurity 5G

About the position

Faculty of Technology, Natural Sciences and Maritime Sciences (TNM) has a vacancy for atemporary fulltime position as Postdoctoral Fellow in “Cybersecurity for 5G”.

The position is located at the Department of Microsystems (IMS) and reports to the Head ofDepartment. The place of employment is Campus Vestfold (Horten).

The appointment is either for a term of four years with 25% teaching obligations or threeyears with no teaching obligations. This is negotiable and needs to be decided before enteringthe job.

The position is part of the Raksha research project funded by the Norwegian ResearchCouncil. The aim of the Raksha project is to improve security for critical communications provided by 5G systems. The project will focus on technologies for Cyber Security in general, with specific focus on security for 5G Core Networks. The research project tasks will typically involve theoretical modelling, development of prototype software tools, analysis and experimentation, writing of scientific publications, as well as some project management.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a Norwegian doctorate or equivalent education abroad in digital security, cybersecurity or similar. Applicants with a PhD in computing science/informatics may apply if they can document strong security skills. The applicant must have gained the degree within the application deadline.

The candidate must be able to work independently and at the same time share knowledge and take part in teamwork. Personal suitability for the post will be emphasised.

The preferred skill set includes (should be documented):

  • Good programming skills: C/C++, JavaScript, Python, and similar
  • Security protocols and cryptography
  • Threat modelling and formal verification
  • Security testing, pentest, fuzz testing
  • 5G technologies (system signaling, system architecture and core network)
  • 4G/5G security architecture

Documented knowledge of REST API technologies, OAuth 2, JSON/JOSE and TLS is also beneficial.

Candidates with confirmed citizenship from EU, NATO and “Five Eyes” countries will be preferred for this position. The reason is that cybersecurity research may involve collaboration with national security organizations which require security clearance.

Salary

Postdoctoral fellow (postdoktor) (code 1352): NOK 563 900 - 702 100 a year, depending on seniority. A statutory contribution will be made from the employee's salary to the state pension plan.

The person appointed must comply with the laws, regulations and agreements that apply at any given time to the post.
