Applicants are expected to submit a research proposal that contributes to the C-FORS research project. Relevant topics might include (but are not limited to): intensional entities (e.g. propositions, properties, relations, and groups) in formal semantics, logic, or metaphysics; nominalization and group formation; hyperintensionality in semantics; intensional and hyperintensional paradoxes (such as the Russell-Myhill paradox).

More about the position

The successful candidate is expected to become part of the research environment/network of the department and contribute to its development. The main purpose of postdoctoral research fellowships is to qualify researchers for work in higher academic positions within their disciplines.

Qualification requirements

  • PhD or equivalent academic qualifications with a specialization in Formal Semantics, Philosophy, or Logic
  • The candidate's research project must be closely connected to the C-FORS research project
  • Fluent oral and written communication skills in English

The doctoral dissertation must be submitted for evaluation by the closing date. Appointment is dependent on the public defence of the doctoral thesis being approved. In exceptional cases, we can consider applications from candidates who do not yet have a PhD degree but who are close to completing one. If so, the degree must be awarded by the time the position is taken up.

In the evaluation of the applications, emphasis will be placed on:

  • The research proposal’s scientific merit and innovation, as well as its relevance to the C-FORS research project
  • The applicant’s estimated academic and personal ability to carry out the project within the allotted time frame and to contribute to the C-FORS research project
