Postdoctoral fellow position on management of digitization work

Simula Metropolitan is searching for a highly motivated Postdoctoral fellow to join the center for effective digitalization of the public sector (EDOS). The center is led by professor Magne Jørgensen. The candidate will undertake empirical work with the goal of gaining insight into how to improve digitization processes, with a particular focus on how to realize the benefits from digitalization in the public sector.

SimulaMet

Simula Metropolitan is a research unit that is jointly owned by Simula Research Laboratory and Oslo Metropolitan University. It is the home of Simula’s research activities on networks and communications, machine learning, and IT management, and it is OsloMet’s strategic partner in research, PhD- and MSc- education in digital engineering.

Simula Metropolitan is organized as a limited company and it is part of the Simula Research Laboratory.


The mission of Simula Metropolitan is to do research in digital engineering at the highest international level, to educate and supervise PhD- and master students at OsloMet, and to contribute to innovation in society through collaboration, startup-companies, and licensing of research results.

What you will do

  • Design and conduct high quality empirical studies on topics related to digitalization. This includes studies on the digitalization planning process, the software development processes, agile software development, organizational transformation processes and the realization of benefits in organizations and the society.
  • Collaborate with the public sector and the software industry in collecting experience and data, contribute with process improvement initiatives and transfer of knowledge.
  • Produce public sector and industry relevant results on how to improve their digitization processes and outcome.
  • Supervise and collaborate with master and PhD students

What we are looking for

The candidate will work closely with the members of the research group in EDOS and is expected to do high-quality research, participate actively in projects, help mentor students and publish results in the most selective venues. Good communication and presentation skills are a must. English is the working language of this international laboratory, but it is an advantage to understand a Scandinavian language for the collection and analysis of information from the public sector in Norway.

Your skills

  • PhD in computer science, management, economy, social science, psychology or other relevant educational backgrounds
  • Documented experience in conducting empirical research
  • Good research track record demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong communication skill (writing and presenting)
