About the position

At the NMBU School of Economics and Business we have a vacancy for a postdoc position within Environmental Valuation and Modelling. The position is for two years with 100% research. The intended start-up is January 2022.

The postdoc position is part of the new project “LandWell: Climate-induced welfare impacts of ecosystem goods and services from agricultural and seminatural landscapes in Norway”, financed by the Research Council of Norway and lead by Statistics Norway.

Main tasks

In the project, the postdoc will contribute to the development, survey design, implementation, and econometric analysis of stated and revealed preference data. The postdoc will also help develop and run integrated assessment models and a map-based, interactive tool for displaying impacts and welfare effects for different land-use and policy scenarios.

We expect the postdoc to have a strong research focus on environmental and resource economics, with a special emphasis on environmental valuation and modelling, and to aim for publication in top-tier journals in environmental and resource economics.

The main purpose of the post-doctoral position is to qualify for work in high-level scientific positions.

Competence

Required academic qualification

  • A completed PhD in Economics, Econometrics, Environmental Economics, Resource Economics, Climate Economics, or related areas.
  • Candidates in the process of finalizing their PhD are also encouraged to apply; the requirement being that the PhD is completed prior to starting the position (January 2022).
  • Proficiency in English, spoken and written

Desired qualifications

  • Practical experience with stated and revealed preference methods in environmental valuation, survey design, and econometric modelling
  • Integrated assessment modelling experience in agricultural, environmental, and climate economics
  • A track record of publishing in high quality journals
  • Relevant experience in teaching and student supervision
  • Proficiency in a Scandinavian language (Norwegian, Danish, or Swedish), spoken and written

Remuneration and further information

The selected candidate will be appointed as a postdoctoral fellow, wage framework 24 (salary grade 59-72) (NOK 523.200-667.200), depending on qualifications.
