The University of Oslo is Norway’s oldest and highest ranked educational and research institution, with 26 500 students and 7 200 employees. With its broad range of academic disciplines and internationally recognised research communities, UiO is an important contributor to society.
The Institute of Clinical Medicine (Klinmed) is one of three institutes under the Faculty. Klinmed is responsible for the Faculty's educational and research activities at Oslo University Hospital and Akershus University Hospital. With about 900 employees spread over approximately 425 man-labour years, Klinmed is the university's largest institute. Our activities follow the clinical activity at the hospitals and are spread across a number of geographical areas.
About the position / About the job
A position as Researcher (SKO1109) is open in the Experimental Cancer Immunotherapy Group led by Johanna Olweus, MD, PhD, at Deptartment of Cancer Immunology, Institute for Cancer Research, Division of Cancer Medicine, Institute of Clinical Medicine, University of Oslo and Oslo University Hospital Radiumhospitalet, from April 2026 to February 2027.
Project description
The project involves validation of new T-cell receptor-based immunotherapies in vitro for safety and efficacy, and in advanced in vivo mouse models. A wide spectrum of methodologies will be used, including standard molecular biology techniques such as DNA/RNA isolation and plasmid preparation, retroviral transduction of T cells, culture of primary T cells, multiparameter (up to 12 colors) flow cytometry assays including functional T-cell assays (cytokine release, cytotoxicity, proliferation), culture of organoids, establishment of patient-derived xenograft models and evaluation of TCR-T cell therapy in such models.ion in more detail and/or present the project description.
Olweus is Head of the Dept. of Cancer Immunology at Oslo University Hospital Radiumhospitalet and leads a research group in the department and holds a position as Professor at the University of Oslo (UiO). The main focus of the research group of Olweus is to develop novel T-cell receptor-based cancer immunotherapies and new technologies for target and TCR identification, and to couple clinical immunotherapy trials with penetrating mechanistic analyses. The research is performed in an interdisciplinary and translational program. The enthusiastic research team of 20 people is highly international and conducts research in close collaboration with world-leading international collaborators at institutions such as Netherlands Cancer Institute and Karolinska Institutet.
