Job description
Applications are invited for a 3-year Researcher in Biostatistics to work on an ERC-funded project at the Oslo Centre for Biostatistics and Epidemiology (OCBE), Department of Biostatistics, University of Oslo (UiO).
We are seeking a highly motivated Research Fellow to conduct research in the field of evidence synthesis. The project will focus on the development of statistical methods for the synthesis of complex and heterogeneous data.
About the research group
The new research group “Knowledge and Data Synthesis” is part of the Oslo Centre for Biostatistics and Epidemiology (OCBE). OCBE is one of Europe's most active biostatistics groups with currently ca 75 researchers. OCBE is internationally recognized, with interests spanning a broad range of areas - including statistical machine learning, high-dimensional data and big data, computationally intensive inference for complex models, causal inference and survival models, measurement uncertainty, and research for clinical trials and observational studies - and numerous collaborations with leading bio-medical research groups internationally and in Norway. OCBE is also a key partner of the Norwegian Centre for Knowledge-driven Machine Learning “Integreat”.
More about the position
The position is for 3 years and is part of the ERC-funded project “KaLeIDO-CARE” that focuses on the development of a novel knowledge synthesis framework.
The successful candidate is expected to start on 1st September 2026.
Qualification requirements and personal skills
Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent in a quantitative discipline such as statistics/biostatistics, data science, mathematics, physics or similar (with strong experience in statistical methods)
Fluent oral and written communication skills in English
Good programming skills in R, Python, or similar are essential.
Experience with machine learning methods would be an advantage
Previous experience with meta-analysis is desirable but not essential.
Previous experience with analysis of medical data is desirable but not essential
Some supervision experience would be an advantage

salary NOK 620 000 – 685 000 NOK per annum depending on qualifications in a position as Researcher, (position code 1109). For exceptionally well-qualified applicants, a higher salary may be considered
