Project description
How does the gut microbiome change during colorectal cancer development? In the CRCbiome project, we investigate the role of the gut microbiome in colo-rectal cancer development based on data and biospecimens from a unique longitudinal cohort. The material is derived from a large, population-based Norwegian colorectal cancer screening study, including up to six samples per participant and comprehensive data on lifestyle, medication use, and colonoscopy findings. Our goal is to characterize microbiome dynamics and identify early biomarkers of colorectal cancer. This project offers an opportunity to work with exceptionally rich longitudinal data and to contribute to microbiome research with clinical impact and societal relevance.
The project will be conducted within an active international research environment and requires a strong commitment to collaboration and on-site participation. The position’s focus will be on the development of bioinformatic tools and advanced omics- and biomarker analyses. Highly motivated candidates with strong analytical skills will have excellent opportunities to contribute to multiple high-impact publications and to contribute to a rapidly evolving field.
