About the position

The Faculty of Social Science are recruiting for an associate professor (senior lecturer) at our campus in Levanger to be part of our teaching team within the creative media programmes. The faculty would be prepared to recruit an assistant professor (lecturer), with the expectation that the candidate would actively work towards qualification as associate professor. The position would be a permanent full-time position and be based at our Levanger campus. Nord University’s faculties are distributed over several campuses, and co-operation between the wider university is important. As such, occasional travel might be required.

Nord University is highly recognized within education in the creative disciplines and offers degrees in: Film and TV Production; CG Art and Animation; Games and Entertainment Technology; Music; and Theatre Production and Acting. Our international creative media programmes are delivered in English. As such, the position requires good oral and written English language skills.

We seek a Compositor / Effects Artist / Environment Artist to design and deliver courses to our students and contribute to research within related topics.

Duties and responsibilities

The position involves:

  • Teaching and supervision on the creative media programmes
  • Research and development work, including dissemination
  • Contribution to externally funded research projects and applications
  • Collaboration with local, national and international partners

Personal Qualities

The position will serve a prominent role in the development and delivery of the creative media study programmes. Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the University’s strategic objectives through research, education, cooperation with business and society. Research activities should contribute to delivering national and international funding and/or publication. The position will also include relevant administrative, management and leadership duties. Continuous professional development initiatives, and participation in peer-group activities, are also encouraged.

Qualification requirements

Associate Professor (Senior Lecturer)

Experience in relevant higher-education practice, based on teaching and supervision, and either:

1. A Norwegian doctoral degree (or a corresponding foreign doctoral degree recognised as equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree) in a relevant subject area, or competence at a corresponding level documented by academic work of the same scope and quality.

or,

2. Document an artistic activities or development work, research activity, or professional practice at a high international level, judged to be equivalent to a doctoral degree, in the subject area concerned.

Assistant Professor (Lecturer)

Experience in relevant higher-education practice, based on teaching and supervision, and either:

1.A Norwegian Master’s degree (or a corresponding foreign postgraduate degree recognised as equivalent to a Norwegian Master’s degree) in a relevant subject area.

or,

2. Document a relevant artistic activities or development work, research activity, or professional practice judged to be equivalent to a postgraduate degree in the subject area concerned.

All applicants:

  • Applicants who do not speak Norwegian (or another Scandinavian language), will be expected to complete language courses up to and including level B2 under the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) within a timeframe agreed upon appointment.
  • Good oral and written presentation skills in English and Norwegian (or another Scandinavian language)

The position is compensated according to Norwegian government regulations, code 1011 for associate professor, or code 1009 for assistant professor. Salary by negotiation.
