At the faculty of Health Science, Department of Pharmacy, a temporary full-time (100 %) position as Researcher is available. The position is part of the project “THE ROLE OF INDUCIBLE DUAL-SPECIFICITY PHOSPHATASES IN REGULATION OF ONCOGENE SIGNALING IN HEMATOLOGICAL CANCERS”, financed by The Norwegian Cancer Society. The project has financing for 4 years.

The Faculty of Health Sciences has eight Departments; Medical Biology, Community Medicine, Clinical Medicine, Pharmacy, Clinical Dentistry, Psychology, Health and Care Sciences, and Child and Adolescent Mental Health.

The Department of Pharmacy consists of six research groups; Pharmacology, Natural Products and Medicinal Chemistry, Drug Transport and Delivery, Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacoepidemiology (IPSUM), Microbiology, and Infection Biology. The Department has 32 staff in continuing appointments as well as a number of staff, PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers in fixed-term appointments. The successful applicant will join the Pharmacology research group.

The Pharmacology research group currently consists of one professor, two associate professors, one postdoc, one PhD candidate and two technical officers.

The position’s field of research

The focus of the research activity in the pharmacology research group is cellular signalling and regulation of gene expression in the context of cell migration and metastasis, with aim to improve therapeutic strategies for cancer treatment.

Qualifications

Interested candidates must have obtained a Ph.D in either immunology, tumour immunology, cancer biology or a related subject. Experience with immunological techniques and cell biology, including multicolour flow cytometry is essential. Researchers with extensive experience and knowledge of immune cell signaling are particular welcome to apply for this position.The applicant needs to understand the concepts of Mass cytometry and be willing to learn these techniques for single cell analysis.

Considerable emphasis will be placed on personal skills. The ability to work independently and collaborate within a research group will be required. The candidate must be experienced in scientific writing and should be capable of constructing grant proposals both as a partner within the research team and also to obtain funding for their own future projects.

The applicant must be highly motivated and responsible, and also have a capacity for hard work and an enthusiasm for research.

The candidate must be fluent in written and oral English.

The appointment is for 4 years. Remuneration of research positions are in State salary code 1109. In addition to taxes, a further 2% is deducted for the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.
