About the position
We have a vacancy for a well-rounded energy economist or other quantitative social scientist with excellent written English. The person hired will provide support to a broad range of projects on energy and climate issues. They will especially be engaged in the production of academic journal articles, including planning, advice on methodology, editing, and supervision of internal and external partners. We are looking for someone who can work fast and be flexible, accurate, and non-conflictual.
There is no limitation on nationality, age, or time elapsed since PhD. The position is for one year but may be extended. We are particularly interested in applicants who can start fast.
Job description
Work closely with Indra Overland on a broad range of topics related to energy and climate change.
Cooperate with and support non-economists.
Aim for research with high academic and/or societal impact.
Your profile
Need to have:
Very strong written English.
Broad overview of economic principles and theories.
Familiarity with energy sector (or subsidiarily climate).
Good understanding of a broad range of research design issues and methodologies.
Nice to have but not required, in order of priority
PhD in energy economics or related field.
Native written English.
Experience of publishing in academic journals, especially journals such as Applied Energy, Renewable Energy, Energy Policy, Journal of Cleaner Production, Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, Nature Energy, Nature Climate Change, Environmental Research Letters, Joule, Heliyon, Energy Research and Social Science, Climate Policy, Climatic Change.
Understanding of engineering/natural science aspects of energy technologies.
Expertise on Southeast Asia.
Norwegian language skills.
We offer
One-year contract, with a possibility of extension and ultimately tenure. Startdate: As soon as possible.
The position is paid in accordance with the Government's salary regulations as senior researcher, depending on the qualifications and experience of the candidate. Approximate annual wage before tax (Senior Researcher) NOK 648 000 – 840 000.
