Battery technology research scientists

We are rapidly expanding our battery activities and are looking for new research scientists to strengthen our battery research team. We are especially looking to strengthen our modeling and digitalization activities.

Job description and content

You will be a member of our highly skilled Batteries and Hydrogen Technologies group and contribute to our development of next generation battery technologies. You will have extensive contact with the battery R&D community and industry in Norway and abroad.

Depending on your education and experience, you are expected to play a significant role in SINTEF's battery activities. You will participate in the establishment and execution of research projects broadly related to computational modelling of batteries, using both physics-based and data-driven methods. Our aim is to develop cutting-edge digital tools and apply them to design and manufacture high-performance battery cells. Experienced researchers will have responsibilities developing customer relations and project management.

You will be given a large degree of responsibility and liberty to follow your own path. SINTEF places high demands on scientific and financial results, whilst at the same time providing for and facilitating your personal development.

Qualifications

We are considering candidates within the following qualities:

  • Master’s or PhD degree Master’s or PhD degree or similar experience in a relevant area like electrochemistry, chemistry, chemical engineering or materials science
  • Significant experience in the battery field and solid understanding of one or more battery chemistries
  • Experience in computational modelling or computer programming is a plus, especially with any of the following tools or languages: COMSOL, MATLAB, Python, Modelica, Julia, R, Semantic data standards (RDF, OWL, Turtle).

Your excellent scientific and analytical skills, and ability to work systematically will help you succeed in SINTEF. In our line of work, you need to have good interpersonal skills and be proactive. Furthermore, you are customer and solution oriented, and you take initiative. You enjoy working independently as well as in a team.

The position requires good communication skills in English, both oral and written. A working knowledge of Norwegian is a plus, but not required.
