Researcher - Digital Manufacturing

SINTEF Manufacturing AS is a R&D company that strives to develop a competitive product manufacturing industry in Norway. We deliver specialist expertise in automated production, product and production development, lean, value chain management and materials technology, as well as laboratory and engineering services. The company has approximately 100 employees and has its head office at Raufoss, in addition to employees in Trondheim, Ålesund, Stavanger and Kongsvinger.

SINTEF Manufacturing's Department of Industrial Ecosystems is a leading European research environment within product development, production management, lean, digitalization and sustainability. The Digital Manufacturing research group supports a diverse range of industrial sectors with research and innovation on next generation production and operations management systems. The group is growing rapidly with an extensive project portfolio of national and international projects in various domains such as cyber physical production systems, digital lean manufacturing, quick response manufacturing and zero defect manufacturing. Our aim is to extend the group with a dedicated researcher who will contribute towards the development of new solutions based on artificial intelligence, blockchain, digital twins, internet of things, machine learning and other emergent technologies.
We are looking for candidates with a solid analytical and technical background, educated at university level (MSc or PhD). Experience from industry or research is an advantage, but not a prerequisite. You are a strong team player with customer focus and a drive to initiate projects. You are either experienced or passionately interested in Industry 4.0 technologies. Experience with software development and Data Science frameworks (e.g. Python-based) is also favourable, but not essential. Norwegian (Scandinavian) and English language skills are required.
Our projects are primarily directed towards industry and its challenges with current and future digital transformation processes. Our researchers initiate and carry out projects in close cooperation with our customers and partners to solve contemporary problems, as well as contributing towards the dissemination of research results in scientific and popular scientific publications.
