We are now seeking two Senior Scientists for our Therapeutics and Virus Technology teams:
Senior Scientist, Therapeutics
As the global leader in fish health and therapeutics development, the Therapeutics team within PHARMAQ R&D consists of experts within parasitology, biotechnology, fish health, environmental toxicology and CMC (Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls). We are now seeking an experienced and highly motivated scientist and project team leader to take on a key role in the development of the sea lice therapeutics for the future. The candidate is expected to support or lead drug development projects and drive activities to implement innovative approaches and technologies in cross-functional teams, including experts in R&D, regulatory affairs, quality assurance, laboratory sciences, commercial development and technical sales.
In this role, you will be at the center of our R&D operations and experience that everything we do, every day, is dedicated to make aquaculture progress. You will have the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art technologies and experts with a variety of backgrounds and experiences, both within the PHARMAQ R&D organization, the broader Zoetis organization and external partners, nationally and internationally. Your significant experience of applying knowledge of principles, concepts, and practices of the discipline will make you a critical member of the team.
Key responsibilities
Lead project teams within the area of development of new therapeutic agents for parasitic diseases in aquaculture
Be accountable for project planning, execution, reporting and communication
Initiate and lead collaborative projects with external partners (academic groups, CROs and CMOs)
Contribute to preparation of protocols and report for studies
In close collaboration with colleagues from other departments, ensure that deliverables are in compliance with relevant SOPs, regulatory requirements and company policies
Contribute with scientific oversight of relevant fields of research
Qualifications and profile
PhD in a relevant life science discipline, e.g. pharmacy, chemistry, veterinary medicine, biotechnology or fish health biology
Project management/team lead experience, preferably from international pharmaceutical, biotech or animal health industry
Ability to communicate effectively across different scientific disciplines, functions and levels
Team player with integrity, flexibility and well-developed people skills
Structured mindset and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities and meet timelines
Fluency in English and Norwegian, both written and spoken

Senior Scientist, Virus Technology
As the global leader in fish health and vaccines, the Virus Technology team supports PHARMAQ part of Zoetis R&D with expertise within virology, cell biology, microbiology, immunology, vaccinology, molecular biology and process technology. In 2020, 2 billion vaccine doses were delivered to Salmonids, Pangasius, Tilapia, Bass and Bream, leading to reduced use of antibiotics and healthier fish, as well as increased value for farmers and improved food safety for consumers worldwide. We are now seeking an experienced and highly motivated scientist and project team leader to be a key contributor to the virus vaccine research activities and strategy. The candidate will be expected to support or lead projects and drive activities to implement innovative approaches and technologies in cross-functional teams including experts in research and development, regulatory affairs, and laboratory sciences.
In this role, you will be at the center of our operations and find that everything we do, every day, is dedicated to make aquaculture progress. You will have an opportunity to work with state-of-the-art technologies and assist with identification and characterization of disease-causing viruses, as well as development of analytical methods and vaccine concepts, for development of novel vaccines. You will also be involved in preparation of documentation for regulatory authorities including protocols, development- and validation reports etc. Your significant experience of applying knowledge of principles, concepts, and practices of the discipline will make you a critical member of the team.
Key responsibilities
Drive virus vaccine research activities

Qualifications and profile
PhD in a relevant life science discipline, e.g. biotechnology, microbiology, molecular biology, veterinary medicine, preferably with focus on Virology
Proven experience from research on pathogen-host interactions, viral diseases and vaccinology, preferably in fish
Project management/team lead experience, preferably from the pharmaceutical, biotech or animal health industry
Minimum 3 years working experience in medicinal/clinical/development research
Experience with virus cultivation and bioanalytical methods and tools such as PCR, qPCR, bioinformatics and immunoassays
Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and meet timelines
You have a structured mindset with focus on quality, and well-developed people skills
Proven networking skills and ability to share knowledge and experience amongst colleagues
Adaptability, accountability and a collaborative mindset is essential
Fluency in English both written and spoken
