PhD Research Fellow in digital transformation, Department of Information Systems

The University of Agder, Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Information Systems, invites applications for one full-time PhD Research Fellow in digital transformation for a period of three years, alternatively four years with 25% of the time assigned to tasks at the Faculty’s discretion. The position is located in Kristiansand, Norway.
This position is related to the newly initiated research Centre for Digital Transformation (CeDiT). CeDiT conducts advanced social science research on how digitalization transforms societies and institutions. Being an inter-disciplinary research centre, CeDiT aims for research excellence within the field of social science.
The Department of Information Systems provides teaching and research at the intersection of technology, organization and business administration. With around 45 employees (Professors, Associate Professors, Post-docs, Research Fellows and administrative staff), the department is one of the largest information systems research groups in Norway. Research activities include work related to eHealth, Integrated Emergency Management and Digital Transformation.
Description of the position
We welcome applications which meet the following:
Digitalization takes many forms and has wide-ranging implications and impacts in diverse ways. Based on the core elements within the IS-field, the design, delivery, use and impact of information technologies in organizations and society, we are interested in research focusing on the transformational impacts of digitalization. Issues of importance include the understanding of how organizations transform based on digitalization, and how they adopt and implement digitalization strategies.
Therefore, the Department of Information Systems invites research proposals that focus on the different impacts of digitalization within the Information Systems field. Applicants are invited to suggest research proposals that have a focus on the topics indicated above and beyond.
Qualifications and terms

The applicants must qualify for admission to the faculty PhD Programme in the Faculty of Social Sciences, with a specialization within Information Systems, and must hold a master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant area of study, with an average grade of B or better. More details to be found here:

Applicants must submit a project proposal whose scope lies within the abovementioned areas of priority. The project proposal should comprise a maximum of ten pages in length, including the reference list. The proposal must contain a preliminary presentation of the problem area, theoretical foundation, methodological approach and planned progression for the doctoral project. The quality of the project proposal will receive a high level of consideration during the application assessment process.
The appointee must have the ability to work in a goal-oriented, organized, focused and independent manner. During the assessment process, emphasis will be placed on the applicant’s examination results as well as any previous research and development work. Relevant practical experience, personal suitability and good teamwork skills will also be emphasized. Fluency in written and oral English is a prerequisite. The position is remunerated within the State salary scale, salary plan 17.515, code 1017, NOK 449.400 gross per year. A 2% compulsory pension contribution will be deducted and paid to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund according to current statutory provisions.
