About the position
The Oslo School of Architecture and Design calIs for applications for a 4 year 50 % position as an Assistant professor in Interaction Design.
Interaction design is one of the main domains across the Institute of Design’s 5 year Master programme - including teaching, research and collaboration with industry. Interaction design is an integrated part of the curriculum across this 5 year programme, with a particular emphasis on the last 2 years. Interaction design at AHO has seen a growing demand for teaching staff, and we are now looking to extend our staff with a 4 year 50% position.
We are currently looking for a highly motivated person to fill a 50% position in interaction design. This Assistant Professor will be responsible for teaching courses on undergraduate and Master level alongside existing teaching staff. This position will be responsible for teaching curriculum that covers various parts of interaction design, with a focus on concept development, exploration in tangible interactions, as well as Web and screen based experiences. We are seeking someone with experience from a broad range of digital design projects, both artistic and commercial. In particular, we are seeking someone with experience from developing detailed interaction design and designing delicate user experiences, as well as planning digital services and creative exploration. The applicant’s own practice and experience could cover both technical and design-related themes from across the digital sector. A broad design-background that also covers service or industrial design would also be prioritized.
The applicant will need to meet high international standards at all levels with a clear foundation in interaction design suited to a higher education school specializing in design. We are interested in a practiced designer who is also an accomplished educator with experience, a strong portfolio and a supported by engaged pedagogy up to Master’s level.
Experience in practice-led and studio-based teaching in design school will be prioritized. This person will be part of AHO’s interaction design teaching team and take part in teaching courses alongside experienced staff, but is also expected to develop and teach self-driven curriculum.
We do not seek applicants who have their primary work and qualification in computing and technology from informatics, Human Computer Interaction or technology studies.
Responsibilities
- Teaching studio-based undergraduate and Master course with a focus on interaction design in the intersection of Web, screens and new technologies, building on exploration, creativity and prototyping.
- Developing curriculum or projects that can contribute across AHO’s 5 year Master in Design.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a master degree or equivalent in design and document the following:
- The applicant must document extensive experience from developing digital design projects in professional settings
- The applications must document a high level of knowledge of and practice across interaction design or related fields
- The applications must document experience from design-led pedagogy and teaching
- Excellent written and spoken English, as well as a Nordic language, is a requirement
