The Institute of Clinical Medicine (Klinmed) is one of three institutes under the Faculty. Klinmed is responsible for the Faculty's educational and research activities at Oslo University Hospital and Akershus University Hospital. With about 900 employees spread over approximately 425 man-labour years, Klinmed is the university's largest institute. Our activities follow the clinical activity at the hospitals and are spread across a number of geographical areas.

The Institute of Clinical Medicine has a vacant position as Associate Professor (førsteamanuensis) at the Department of Pharmacology, Institute of Clinical Medicine, University of Oslo.
The Department of Pharmacology constitutes a large pharmacology environment across Oslo University Hospital and University of Oslo (UiO). The vacant position is at the UiO section, which currently has five research groups focusing on cardiac pharmacology, neuropharmacology, drug design of biologics, adaptive and innate immunity, and immunotherapy. The section has access to well-equipped research facilities for in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo pharmacology. Research activity at the UiO section is translational with several activeinnovation and commercialization projects. From January 2027, the department will be localized in the Life Science Building together with other strong life science research environments from the University of Oslo and Oslo University Hospital. This colocalization offers great opportunities for collaborative and translational research activities.
The successful candidate is expected to strengthen the field of pharmacology by initiating and leading a strong research program within pharmacology, initiate national and international research collaborations, publish in peer-reviewed international journals, and be able to attract external funding. University teaching is a major part of this position including the continuous development of teaching and examination activities. The selected candidate will teach pharmacology to medical students throughout the entire curriculum. Teaching-related workaccounts for 50 % of the position.

Responsibilities
The appointed person will:
Lead and initiate research activities
Supervise doctoral degree students and researchers
Teach pharmacology to medical students throughout the professional study in medicine at the Faculty of Medicin
Undertake duties in connection with examinations of students at all levels
Undertake administrative tasks as required by the prevailing regulations, such as participation in adjudication committees for PhDtheses, assessment committees regarding appointments, and to take the role as acting dean in disputations.

A PhD in a relevant field, or competence at an equivalent level documented through scientific work of the same scope and quality.An educational background in medicine is a strong advantage as the curriculum to a large extent is clinically oriented, but not arequirement, and an educational background in other relevant or related disciplines e.g. in pharmacy, veterinary medicine, odontology or biology will also be considered.
High ambitions and quality of teaching, research and communication are expected.
Basic university pedagogical competence according to U iO's guidelines. Applicants who cannot document basic university pedagogicalcompetence at the time of employment must acquire this within two years of employment.
Proficiency in written and spoken Scandinavian language and English is a prerequisite for performing all the duties of the position.Applicants who cannot document Norwegian language skills at the B2 level (or another Scandinavian language) must be able todocument this within three years of employment.
