SimulaMet
Simula Research Laboratory AS is a publicly owned research lab located in downtown Oslo, Norway. Simula conducts Information and Communication Technology (ICT) research in the fields of scientific computing, software engineering, communication systems, machine learning and cybersecurity.
Simula's main objective is to create knowledge about fundamental scientific challenges that are of genuine value for society. This is achieved through high-quality research, education of graduate students, industry collaboration, technology transfer, and commercialization. Since 2001, scientific evaluations conducted by the Research Council of Norway have repeatedly placed Simula at the forefront of international research in ICT. The most recent in-depth evaluation was published in 2017, grading the full range of research at Simula as “excellent”.

SimulaMet sitt forskningssenter for Effektiv Digitalisering av Offentlig Sektor (EDOS) ble opprettet i 2020 med støtte fra Kommunal og Distriktsdepartementet. Det overordnede formålet er å bidra med forskning som kan føre til effektiv digitalisering av offentlig sektor. Forskningen vil være tverrfaglig og i stor grad basert på empiriske undersøkelser, som datainnhenting fra digitaliseringsarbeid, eksperimenter og spørreundersøkelser.
Temaer som vil være sentrale omfatter blant annet:
Prosesser og organisering for bedre realisering av gevinster og nytte
Smidige arbeidsprosesser og smidig organisering av programvareutvikling
Planlegging og styring av IT-prosjekter og produktutvikling
Kompetanseevaluering og ressursstyring
Samarbeids og avtaleformer mellom aktører
Forskningen skjer i nært samarbeid med offentlige etater, næringslivet og forskningsmiljøer i Norge og internasjonalt. Formidling og kompetanseoverføring til offentlig sektor og andre aktører vektlegges. Senteret er ledet av professor Magne Jørgensen og har for tiden tre seniorforskere og to PhD-studenter.

Hvem vi ser etter
Vi ser etter en person med svært gode analytiske evner, interesse for empiriske undersøkelser, og ønske om å bidra til at digitaliseringsarbeid blir gjennomført mer effektivt og med bedre nytteoppnåelse.
Norskkunnskaper (eventuelt svensk eller dansk) er en fordel for data/kunnskapsinnhenting og spredning, mens engelsk vil være publiseringsspråket for forskningsartikler.
Dine kvalifikasjoner
Utdannelse innen informatikk, datateknologi, prosjektledelse, samfunnsøkonomi, organisasjon og ledelse, psykologi eller andre relevante fagområder.
Mastergrad med minst B som gjennomsnitt.
Erfaring fra gjennomføring av digitaliseringsarbeid i offentlig eller privat sektor er en fordel.

PhD in management of digitalization work at Center for effective digitalization of the public sector (EDOS) at SimulaMet
Do you want to contribute to increased knowledge on how the development of digital services can be performed more effectively, how to avoid failed software development and how to increase the benefits from digitalization work?
SimulaMet established in 2020 a research center for effective digitalization of the public sector with support from the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development. The main goal of the center is to contribute with research that can lead to better digitalization of the public sector. The research is interdisciplinary and to a large extent based on empirical research, such as data collection in public and private sector digitization work, experiments, observational studies and survey-based studies.
Topics of particular interest include among others:
Processes and organizations for better benefits management
Agile software development and organization
Management of IT-projects and product development
Evaluation of skill and resource management
Processes and organization for better collaboration among digitalization actors
The research is conducted in close collaboration with public organizations, software companies and other research groups in Norway and internationally. An emphasis is put on transfer of knowledge to the public and the private sector. The center is led by professor Magne Jørgensen and currently has three senior researchers and two PhD-students.
What you will do
Designing, planning and execution of empirical studies on digitalization work
Analysis of empirical quantitative and qualitative data
Writing of scientific papers and presentation of your research at conferences
Collaboration with other researchers in the research group and externally
Knowledge transfer to and competence building in the public and private sector
What we are looking for
We are looking for a person with very strong analytical skills, interest in empirical studies, and a wish to contribute to effective digitalization work with better realization of benefits. Knowledge of a Scandinavian language is an advantage for the data collection and analysis of the digitization work in Norwegian organizations. English will be the main language for the publication of the research.
Your skills
Educational backgrounds include, but are not limited to, informatics, software engineering, project management, economy, organizational science or psychology.
Masters degree with good grades (corresponding to the grade B in Norway)
Experience from digitization work in the public or private sector is an advantage
