Job description
Applications are invited for a 3 year position as Postdoctoral Fellow in (Biomedicine) to be based at the Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Department of Molecular Medicine, University of Oslo.
The position is associated with the research group of Professor Anne Simonsen on the project “The role of selective autophagy in tumor development”. The project is financed by The Norwegian Cancer Society.
More about the position
The postdoctor will take part in a project aimed at elucidation of the mechanisms involved in recognition and targeting of specific cargo for degradation by autophagy and their role in cancer. More specifically, the postdoc project will focus on 1) role of HS1BP3, a negative regulator of autophagy, in gastric cancer models and 2) the characterization of autophagy across different AML oncogenes. Previous experience with research within the autophagy field and relevant methods will be considered an advantage.
We are looking for highly motivated individuals with the personal prerequisites to carry out the project within the given timeframe. The main purpose of post-doctoral research fellowships is to qualify researchers for work in higher academic positions within their discipline.
Qualification requirements
- Candidates must have a PhD equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree in cell biology, molecular biology or equal. Successful candidates must have submitted their doctoral thesis prior to the application closing date.
- We are looking for a motivated individual with the personal prerequisite to carry out the project. The candidate must be able to work independently, take initiatives and be responsible for own progress.
- The successful candidate must have extensive experience from experimental laboratory work in biochemistry and molecular cell biology, such as cell transfection, genome editing and RNAi techniques, Western blot analysis, confocal and live cell microscopy, protein expression and interaction analysis. Experience with methodology relevant for analysis of lipids and autophagy will be considered an advantage
- The applicant must speak and write English fluently
- Emphasis will be attributed to team-working and personal skills
In assessing the applications, special emphasis will be placed on the relevance of the candidate’s background, both when it comes to the research field and the experimental methods. The assumed academic and personal ability of the candidate to complete the project within the given time frame will also be considered.
