Title: “Exploring modern data analysis tools for application on health and healthcare data”.

Increasing amounts of health and healthcare data from treatment of animals and humans call for exploration using modern data analysis tools to provide new insight and improve treatment of patients.

The project will improve existing data analysis approaches using state-of-the-art multiblock methods as well as machine learning and deep learning methods applied to a broad spectre of health and health care data, such as medical images, multivariate time series measured on animals and electronic health record data from patient registries.

Relevant areas of research and application include:

  • Analysis of medical images to support treatment decisions
  • Analysis of longitudinal animal health data
  • Analysis of patient registry data for quality measurement of healthcare services

Main tasks

Tasks will be adapted to the candidate’s skills/interests and the current problems available for study.

Typical examples include:

  • Develop, implement and apply innovative data analytical methods for application on health and healthcare data.
  • Refine existing multivariate methods to improve numerical stability and computational speed.
  • Efficient inclusion of background or prior knowledge in constrained model selection and validation
  • Modification of existing data analysis methodology for more efficient processing of health and healthcare data.

The successful candidate is expected to enter a plan for the progress of the work towards a PhD degree during the first months of the appointment, with a view to completing a doctorate within the PhD scholarship period.
