The Faculty of Technology, Natural Sciences and Maritime Sciences have a vacancy for a temporary post as Postdoctoral Fellow in Bio electrochemical systems

About the position

The Faculty of Technology, Natural Sciences and Maritime Scienences has a vacancy for a position as Posdoctoral Fellow in bio-electrochemical systems from August 15 2020.

The position relates to the Department of microsystems and reports to the Head of the Department. The main place of work is currently campus Vestfold, located at Bakkenteigen between Tønsberg and Horten.

Responsibilities and duties

The Postdoctoral fellow position connects to University strategic supported research activity "Renewable Energy and Climate". The Postdoctoral project will be within the research field of bio-electrochemical technology for "power to gas" application.

The candidate will be involved in a large activity network to develop a bio-electrochemical system for "power to gas" application. The major task for the candidate is to study the formation of heterojunctions between organic microorganisms and inorganic electrodes, and the electron transfer mechanism through the heterojunctions at different electrode over potentials. The research tasks also include fabricating networks of low dimensional materials for porous electrodes with micro/nano hybrid features, large surface gain, high electrical conductivity, and bio-electrochemical active sites being to host massive amount of microorganisms.

The Postdoctoral fellow will work within the research group BECs at TNM. The Postdoctoral fellow will be expected to work independently and as part of a group, involve in the supervision of PhD or master students. The position has the objective of qualifying for higher academic positions.
