Postdoctoral Research Fellow

At the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Clinical Sciences, a full-time (100 %) position as Postdoctoral Research Fellow is available for a period of three (3) years. The position is part of the project ”Enhanced cryoimmunotherapy (CryoIT) against urogenital cancers”, financed by the Research Council of Norway’s program, NFR BEHANDLING.

About the project/work tasks:

The aim of the project is to develop more potent immune cells for cancer cell cryoimmunotherapy. The research groups have different sub-projects that work interactively towards improved therapeutic cells. The present postdoc project will handle patient materials, healthy control blood samples and cell lines in order to conduct experiments in cell culture, 3D cultures and co-cultures between immune cells and cancer cells. The project will screen panels of small molecular compounds in order to identify effects on signal transduction pathways, including beta-catenin, STAT and IDO-1. Novel compounds will be tested for effect both on immune cells, cancer cells and benign cells using assays of apoptosis, immunogenic cell death, necrosis and functional assays. Selected leading compounds and panels of chemical derivatives will be followed up in order to identify molecular targets and mechanisms, including assays of compound-to-protein binding. Standard methods of cytokine measurements, flowcytometry, Western blots, nucleic acid purification, polymerase chain reaction, cell transformation, transfection and transduction will be used. The first stages of pre-clinical development of promising leading compounds will be aimed for, including toxicity evaluation and efficacy studies in mice models.
