The Faculty of Technology, Natural Sciences and Maritime Sciences have a vacancy for a temporary position as Postdoctoral Fellow in Education/pedagogy

About the position

The Faculty of Technology, Natural Sciences and Maritime Sciences (TNM) has a vacancy of one or two positions as Postdoctoral Fellow within the frame of simulation training, maritime learning, the unforeseen and risk education.

The position is located at the Department of Maritime operations and reports to the Head of Department. The place of employment is campus Vestfold, Bakkenteigen.

Information about the position

The position will be connected to the SFU-coast and other research projects at the department.

Pedagogical research description can be in line with one of the following research topics:

Evaluation (i) of the current state-of-the-art training and assessment practices in Maritime

Education and Training (MET). The development (ii) of novel simulator training and assessment methods by considering technological advances. Develop tools (iii) for estimating transfer effectiveness ratio (TER). Curriculum research (iv) related to development of creativity and improvisation within the realms of the unforeseen and risk-education.

The appointment is for a term of two years

Qualifications

Applicants must have a Norwegian doctorate or equivalent in education or within the frameworks of learning and/or simulator practices. The successful applicant must have gained the degree before the start of her/his tenure.

A good command of Norwegian or other Scandinavian language is demanded from start, since the working language is Norwegian. 25 % of the allocated time will be related toteaching and mentoring of students, and also courses in university pedagogy (UH-PED) will be encouraged.

Co-operation between staff members is an integrated part of the working atmosphere at the University of South-Eastern Norway. The candidate must be motivated and demonstrate a proven ability to work effectively within a team and in a collegiate manner to formulate and realize common objectives.

Salary

Postdoctoral Fellow (postdoktor) (code 1352): NOK 563 900 - 702 100 a year, depending on seniority.

A statutory contribution to the state pension plan will be deducted from the employee’s salary.

The Academic Appointments Board is responsible for the appointment to academic positions at University of South-Eastern Norway. An expert assessment of applicants will be carried out. The candidates deemed best qualified will be invited to an interview.
