Postdoctoral Research Fellow position
At the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Clinical Science, K2, Broegelmann Research Laboratory, a full-time (100 %) position as postdoctoral research fellow is available for a period of 3 years. The position is part of the project ” Molecular and cellular studies of the immunopathogenesis of arthritis”, financed by University of Bergen. It aims to delineate immunological mechanisms mediating arthritis at the molecular and cellular levels. A specific focus within the project is the role of the alarmin HMGB1. The research group has a node within the Rheumatology division at Karolinska Institutet.
About the project/work tasks:
The project encompasses multiple laborative methods; cloning, gene editing, transfections, recombinant protein production, cell culture, western blotting, ELISA, Luminex, flow cytometry and RNA seq.
The successful candidate is expected to participate in research-related activities such as group meetings, seminars, Journal clubs, in addition to contributing to the common activities of the group and the research laboratory.
The employee may be assigned required duties in the form of teaching and similar work at the department.
Qualifications and personal qualities:
The applicant must hold a Norwegian PhD or an equivalent degree within life sciences or have the doctoral thesis submitted prior to the application deadline. It is a condition of employment that the PhD has been awarded and at the latest within 5 months after the closing date for applications.
The successful applicant must demonstrate experience in molecular biology methods
Experience of primary cell and cell line cultures is advantageous in the evaluation
Previous scientific merits will be strongly emphasized in the evaluation
Experience from research projects in immunology and arthritis will be considered as positive
The successful applicant should be able to work independently in a structured manner, have the ability to cooperate with others both within the research group and with collaborators and a great work capacity.
The applicant must be fluent in oral and written English

About the position of postdoctoral research fellow:
The position of postdoctoral research fellow is a fixed-term appointment with the primary objective of qualifying the appointee for work in top academic positions. You cannot be employed as a postdoctoral fellow for more than one fixed term period at the same institution.
The employee may be assigned required duties in the form of teaching and similar work at the department.
The fixed term period for the position is three years, with the possibility of an extension of the period with up to one year if a research-related stay abroad shall be included in the employment period.

Salary NOK 615 700 (code 1352, pay grade 63) in the state salary scale. For applicants with a degree in Medicine or Dentistry, salary NOK 624 500 (code 1352, pay grade 64). For applicants with a medical specialization, salary NOK 646 000 (code 1352, pay grade 66)
