More about the position

The fellowship period is 2 years, and is devoted to carrying out a project on the role of aquaporin water channels in brain physiology and during disease processes. Aquaporins are channel-forming membrane proteins expressed throughout the body. Brain contains several aquaporins, where aquaporin-4 (AQP4) is the predominant aquaporin expressed in astrocytes.

In this project we will study the effect of a mutation in the Aqp4 gene, on its various functions in vivo and in vitro. The project will focus on a mouse model with this mutation and will include behavioral tests combined with molecular biology and imaging techniques.

The main purpose of the fellowship is to qualify researchers for work in higher academic positions within their disciplines.

Qualification requirements
