Job description

The fellow will perform analyses of large and complex data sets, spanning brain imaging, genetics and clinical data.

The goal is to reveal more of the genetic architecture underlying brain structure and function and to improve our understanding of the neurogenetic mechanisms underlying mental disorders.

The project is based in Oslo (Norway) with optional mobility to Tübingen (Germany) as the project PI coordinates projects in both places, e.g. short- or long-term stays and frequent exchange with researchers in both places.

The main purpose of post-doctoral research fellowships is to qualify researchers for work in top academic positions within their disciplines. Guidelines for appointments to post-doctoral research fellowships at the University of Oslo may be obtained here.

The position is funded for three years.

Qualification requirements

Applicants should have a completed or nearly completed PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g. neuroscience, biology, psychology, statistical genetics). It is acceptable if the degree will be formally obtained within three months from the deadline of the present call. The ideal candidate has excellent data analysis skills, is familiar with both neuroimaging and genetics analyses, and has excellent scientific writing skills. Hands-on experience with high performance computing and big data analysis is expected. The fellow will be key scientific personnel in the project at CoE NORMENT.

The ideal candidate:

• Is ambitious and highly motivated for pursuing a career in science
• Has a strong background in large-scale data-analysis of neuroimaging and genetics data
• Is knowledgeable in programming languages and platforms such as python, R, Linux
• Is goal oriented and enjoys working within a cross-disciplinary team
• Has a strong command of English
