About the SIBS research project

The SIBS research project is initiated by the Department of Psychology, UiO, and Frambu Resource Centre for Rare Disorders. The research project involves a multidisciplinary consortium of national and international collaborators, including academic institutions, health care authorities and providers, and patient user organizations. The SIBS project focuses on siblings of children with chronic disorders, who have a documented elevated risk for mental health problems and reduced quality of life. The vision of SIBS is to improve the mental health and quality of life in children and adolescents who are siblings of children with chronic disorders. More information about the SIBS project can be found at www.sibs.no or by contacting the Project Manager.

Currently, the project is conducting a randomized controlled trial (RCT) examining a preventive group intervention for siblings and parents of children with chronic health conditions, involving multiple sites across Norway. The SIBS RCT study is a collaboration with Lillestrøm municipality and is funded by the Research Council of Norway. The study protocol is described in Trials. The SIBS RCT study will generate sibling- and parent-reported questionnaire data, biological data, video data, registry data, and implementation data. This extensive database allows for multiple and various research questions and both quantitative and qualitative methodological approaches. The post doc candidate will be part of a large international research network. The SIBS project group comprises several national and international senior researchers, as well as three PhD candidates. In addition to being primary author on their own papers, the post doc candidate will be invited to co-author papers of co-workers in the project group. A detailed publication plan for the candidate will be developed based on their interests and qualifications. Please indicate in the application letter if your interest is mainly in genetics/biological data, intervention research, family process research, group dynamics or in specific disorders.
