INNOVATEDIGNITY-ITN’s distinctive consortium brings together opportunities for ESRs to experience national advocacy initiatives and processes for older people (e.g. DaneAge); build entrepreneurial sensibility, including exposure to SMEs in the private sector (e.g. PosifonAB); become expert in new systems and models of care (Belong, Royal College of Nursing); and skilled in policy development, influence and knowledge mobilisation with engagement of influential professional organisations. In this way we will ensure the relevance of all PhD projects and provide a unique and exemplary international foundation and contribution to further developments and policy contributions for shaping future care systems.

The consortium is made up of nine academic institutions and nine partner organisations as outlined across five European Union countries: UK, Norway, Greece, Denmark and Sweden. The 3 PhDs will be hosted at the beneficiary institutions of the INNOVATEDIGNITY-ITN: Nord Universitet (Nord) Norway; Aarhus Universitet (AU) Denmark. The Norwegian position is at Nord University, Bodø.

The purpose of the INNOVATEDIGNITY-ITN, funded by the European Commission (2019-2023), is to develop a shared research and training agenda in order to educate the next generation of interdisciplinary health care researchers and leaders across Europe. The INNOVATEDIGNITY project is a response to the Europe wide need to provide sustainable and dignified care for older people.

INNOVATEDIGNITY-ITN ESRs will engage in critical, practical, and creative exploration of the contribution and relationships between their individual doctoral study projects across three interconnecting research themes: 1. Dignity within digital applications 2. Living well in care systems. 3. Gender and sustainable care.
