Postdoctoral fellow position on data privacy-preserving methods

Simula Metropolitan is searching for a highly motivated Postdoctoral fellow to join the Center for Resilient Networks and Application (CRNA) to strengthen the research within the security area. The candidate will undertake research into advanced methods for preserving privacy within large-scale measurement related datasets.

What you will do:

Society heavily relies upon the Internet for many purposes including but not limited to global communication, commerce, technology and entertainment. With the increase of the end-users and businesses online presence, so has the importance of data privacy. Consequently, privacy frameworks like General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and national protection laws in countries like Canada, Japan or Singapore have been established in order to define how data should be stored and used. Recent studies have however shown that large-scale measurement datasets can provide insights related to end-user and business relationships. We aim to study how privacy is preserved within and across these datasets, and propose methods for improving privacy. The Postdoctoral fellow will play a critical and active role in shaping the research agenda, and also be responsible for laying the foundations for on-going investigation of privacy-preserving methods.

What we are looking for:

The candidate will work closely with the CRNA members and is expected to do high-quality research, participate actively in projects, help mentor students and publish results in the most selective venues. Good communication and presentation skills are a must. English is the working language of this international laboratory.

Your skills:

  • PhD in computer science
  • Strong background in theory and practice in one or more of Security / Privacy, Distributed Systems and Networks
  • Good research track record demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications
  • Strong analytical and programming skills
  • Strong communication skill (writing and presenting)

What we offer:

  • An informal and inclusive workplace consisting of a highly competent and motivated team of international researchers and engineers.
  • Great opportunities for growth and development.
  • Competitive compensation package with excellent pension and insurance scheme.
  • A competitive salary. Starting salary for PostDocs NOK 544.400.
