The Department of Psychology is one of seven units of the Faculty of Social Sciences, and has 75 permanent and 70 temporary members of scientific staff. Degrees are offered at bachelor and master level, plus a clinical training programme, and the PhD programme has 140 students.

About the position

A permanent, full-time position as Associate Professor in Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology is available at the Clinical Section at the Department of Psychology, University of Oslo. This position is situated within a diverse and interdisciplinary academic environment. 

The successful candidate will join a large and active clinical section at the Department of Psychology comprising approximately 10 Ph-D candidates and 20 full-time employed associate professors and professors representing a wide range of theoretical orientations and research activities. The position is affiliated with the Child-, Adolescent and Family subsection of the Clinical section at Department og Psychology, University of Oslo. 

Your areas of responsibility will be

We are looking for a dedicated candidate who is expected to 

  • Initiate, conduct and lead research in clinical child, adolescent, and/or family psychology
  • Teach topics related to clinical work with children, adolescents, and families, with a particular focus on psychotherapeutic methods and clinical practice.
  • Contribute to examination and assessment activities at all levels
  • Supervise and mentor dissertations and PhD candidates
  • Take part in administrative responsibilities aligned with the needs of the Department

The position consists of 47% research responsibilities, 47% teaching responsibilities, and 6% administrative duties.

Qualifications

Qualification requirements

  • Doctoral degree:
    • A PhD in clinical Child, Adolescent, or Family psychology or a PhD in a relevant field. 
  • Professional authorization:
    • Authorization as a psychologist in Norway, with substantial clinical experience in the treatment of children and adolescents and their families.
    • Clinical specialist or substantial experience in Child, Adolescent and Family therapy.
  • Research qualifications:
    • Documented record of high-quality research and scholarly activity.
    • Scientific work demonstrating originality, quality, and scope appropriate for an academic position.
  • Teaching competence:
    • Demonstrated teaching experience and pedagogical skill at the university level.
    • Willingness to obtain formal basic university pedagogical competence in accordance with the University of Oslo’s guidelines. Applicants who cannot document such competence at the time of appointment must obtain it within two years of appointment.
  • Teaching portfolio: 
    • A documented teaching portfolio that includes:
      • Contributions to student learning
      • Development of teaching competence over time
      • A scholarly approach to teaching and learning
      • Evidence of collegial and collaborative teaching practices
  • Language requirements:
    • Proficiency in written and spoken Scandinavian language and English is a prerequisite for performing all duties associated with the position.

  • Research profile:
    • An innovative, active, and robust research profile with clear potential to contribute to research at an international level.
    • A strong, documented research activity relevant to clinical child and adolescent psychology
    • Publications in internationally recognized outlets, particularly within the last five years.
  • Teaching excellence:Strong and well-documented teaching abilities that significantly enhance student learning and program development.
