The Institute of Clinical Medicine (Klinmed) is one of three institutes under the Faculty. Klinmed is responsible for the Faculty's educational and research activities at Oslo University Hospital and Akershus University Hospital. With about 800 employees spread over approximately 425 man-labour years, Klinmed is the university's largest institute. Our activities follow the clinical activity at the hospitals and are spread across a number of geographical areas.

Oslo University Hospital (OUH) is a local hospital for the major part of Oslo's population. It has a regional function for the inhabitants in the South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority, and also a large number of national functions. OUH is Norway’s largest hospital with more than 20 000 employees and a budget of 20 billion NOK. The Hospital is responsible for a major part of medical research and education of health personnel in Norway.

Professor II / Associate Professor (20 % position) in medicine (Paediatric Infections/ Immunology) combined with 100% Senior Consultant at OUH

About the position

A full time permanent position as Senior Consultant (Paediatrics) is available at the Division of Paediatric and Adolescent Medicine, Oslo University Hospital. The position is affiliated with a part time position as Professor II SKO 9013 /Associate Professor SKO 1011 (20 % position) in Medicine (Paediatric Infections/ Immunology) at the Institute of Clinical Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo (UoO). It is required that the position holder attends to both positions.

Regarding the full-time clinical position at OUH:

Oslo University Hospital has local, regional, multiregional, and national responsibilities in paediatrics. The Division of Paediatric and Adolescent Medicine is located at two campuses, Rikshospitalet and Ullevål hospital, and is currently organized with thirteen departments. All departments are involved in patient care and teaching of medical students and of other health care professionals. The research activity is organized in research groups and the division aims at integrating clinical research with basic research within and outside of the division. The departments are supposed to develop the research activities further within prioritized areas.

Applicants must hold an MD, they must hold specialist qualifications in paediatrics, and they must be able to document broad clinical experience in a relevant field of paediatrics. Interpersonal skills and the ability to create an attractive research environment will be emphasized. The applicants must be fluent in Norwegian, Swedish or Danish, as the position involves clinical patient work. In addition, the teaching position requires fluency in English (see below).

To apply for the academic position the applicant must either concurrently apply for the senior consultant position in paediatrics, or must already be employed in the Division of Paediatric and Adolescent Medicine at a consultant level or in a leadership position.

Qualifications and high quality within teaching and clinical and/ or basic paediatric research are essential. The research activity within infections/ immunology should address questions of high relevance for the clinical activity. We are looking for a person that shows enthusiasm and dedication for the academic tasks and motivates other employees to participate in research. The applicant should have the ability to initiate and participate in larger projects comprising several fields of paediatrics, addressing research questions of high relevance.
