The Institute of Clinical Medicine (Klinmed) is one of three institutes under the Faculty. Klinmed is responsible for the Faculty's educational and research activities at Oslo University Hospital and Akershus University Hospital. With about 800 employees spread over approximately 425 man-labour years, Klinmed is the university's largest institute. Our activities follow the clinical activity at the hospitals and are spread across a number of geographical areas.

Oslo University Hospital is a highly specialised hospital in charge of extensive regional and local hospital assignments and the provision of high quality services for the citizens of Oslo. The hospital also has a nationwide responsibility for a number of national and multi-regional assignments and has several national centres of competence. The hospital is Scandinavia's largest and we each year carry out more than 1.2 million patient treatments. Oslo University Hospital is responsible for approximately 50 percent of all medical and healthcare research conducted at Norwegian hospitals and is a significant role player within the education of a large variety of health care personnel. We are an emergency hospital for East and Southern Norway and have national emergency assignments. The hospital has a total budget of NOK 17 billion. More than 20,000 employees are engaged with activities at more than 40 different locations.

A permanent position is available at the Institute of Clinical Medicine, Division of Emergencies and Critical Care for an Associate Professor/ Professor in the subject area of Anaesthesiology, combined with Senior Consultant at Oslo University Hospital, Division of Emergencies and Critical Care.

The successful candidate is expected to initiate and lead research, supervise PhD candidates, participate in teaching and in exam setting and assessment at all levels, and to carry out administrative duties in accordance with the needs of the institute of Clinical Medicine.

Formal regulations

The successful candidate who at the time of appointment cannot document basic teaching qualifications will be required to obtain such qualifications within a two-year period.

The successful candidate must demonstrate mastery of both English and one of the Scandinavian languages as working languages. If an appointee is not fluent in a Scandinavian language, the appointee will be expected within a two-year period to learn sufficient Norwegian to be able to participate actively in all functions the position may involve.

A permanent position as Senior Consultant (Anesthesiology) is available at Division of Emergencies and Critical Care, Oslo University Hospital. The position is affiliated with a part time position as Adjunct Professor SKO 8013 /Associate Professor SKO 1011 (20 % position), Ref.number 2019/9256, in Medicine (Anesthesiology) at the Institute ofClinical Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo (UiO). It is required that the position holder attends both positions.

Division of Emergencies and Critical Care is located at Aker, Radiumhospitalet, Rikshospitalet and Ullevål. Work place will be decided depending on the applicant’s competence and special interest. The division covers emergency medicine, critical care medicine, pain medicine, and all kind of anesthesiology procedures (> 50000 annual anesthesia patients) and the division hosts the Intervention Center which activities are development and research on medical technology. Education of medical students and specialist training are integrated in the division and there are 12 professors in the academic faculty.

Main Position work tasks

- Clinical work as senior anesthesiologist- Research and development integrated in the clinical activities.- Quality improvement- Education of medical students and supervision of specialist candidates. Qualification requirements- Certified specialist in Anesthesiology in Norway- Good theoretical and clinical skills- Verbal and written communication skills in Norwegian or Scandinavian language- Senior Consultant position includes ability to be acting team leadership.- Good cooperation skills, engagement and flexibility.- Good working capacity
