The Norwegian Center for Holocaust and Minority Studies is a research, dissemination and documentation center focusing on the Holocaust and other genocides, anti-Semitism, racism, extremism, conspiracy theories and the conditions of minorities in modern society.

The Norwegian Center for Holocaust and Minority Studies (CHMS) is looking for a strategic, academically strong, and dedicated researcher to fill the position as Head of Research. This role involves leading the Center’s research department and conducting independent research within CHMS’s core subject areas.

In this position, you will oversee a team of researchers with diverse academic expertise and a strong commitment to scholarship. You'll also have the opportunity to pursue your own research projects aligned with the Center’s priority topics.

CHMS aims to enhance knowledge about the Holocaust, antisemitism, racism, genocide, and related human rights violations, as well as the conditions of minorities in modern societies. The research department comprises both social scientists and humanists, who engage in historical and contemporary research and outreach across the Center’s broad fields of inquiry.

As the Head of Research, you will be responsible for the academic and strategic leadership of the department, including budgetary and personnel management. A key responsibility will include advancing the Center’s research profile, fostering favorable conditions for new research project development, and actively acquiring projects. We seek a candidate with solid scientific competence, experience in research leadership, and strong knowledge of the academic fields central to the Center’s work. The ideal candidate will have a relevant academic profile and experience that equips them to lead, develop, and ensure high-quality research activities.
