About the position

The Faculty of Technology, Natural Science and Maritime Sciences has a vacant permanent external finances position as researcher in micro- and nanotechology.

The position is at the Department of microsystem and reports to the Head of Department. The place of employment is Campus Vestfold. Much of the work will be in close collaboration with companies and other institutions, and som work may be carried out at their sites.

University of South-Eastern Norway has about 18 000 students and about 1500 employees. The university is organized in four faculties, with instruction and R&D activities on eight campuses.

The main profile of the university is to provide socially relevant education, geared towards specific professions, and adapted to the requirements of the workplace, as well as to produce applied research and development.

The position may involve research on a variety of micro- and nanotechnology problems, the emphasis is on packaging technology and the immediate tasks will be to develop wafer level packaging of MEMS/CMOS devices and optical sensors.

Responsibilities and dutiesCarry out reasearch within our externally fundes reasearch project and acquire new projects from funding agencies and industry.

Qualifications

Applicants must have Norwegian doctorate or equivalent education abroad in Micro- and Nanotechologies or related fields with specific preference for applicants with an education experience focused on Electronic Packaging and Interconnection Technologies, Micro-Opto-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MOEMS) or Microsensors. Some postdoctoral experience in an advantage.

Co-operation between staff members is an integrated part of the working atmosphere at the University of South-Eastern Norway. The candidate must be motivated and demonstrate a proven ability to work effectively within a team and in a collegiate manner to formulate and realise common objectives.

Salary

Researcher (code 1109): NOK 515 200 - 646 700 a year. Salary placement depending on seniority. In special cases, higher salary may be considered. A statutory contribution will be made from the employee’s salary to the state pension plan.
