Job description

Position as Researcher in Cancer Cell Biology available at the Department of Biosciences, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Oslo in the research group of Associate Professor Cinzia Progida.

The appointment is a fulltime position and is made for a period of two years.

The candidate for this position will work on a project funded by the Norwegian Cancer Society. The goal of this project is to identify and characterize molecules and pathways involved in lysosome transformation in cancer cells, and how this is coupled with the development of the cancer cell migratory and invasive ability. To achieve this, the project will make use of RNAi screens, proteomics, and advanced imaging techniques such as super-resolution and live imaging. Our group has access to the National imaging platform NorMIC Oslo, http://www.mn.uio.no/ibv/english/research/about/infrastructure/imaging/ with a wide range of state-of-the-art imaging equipment. The Department of Biosciences harbors also an EM-lab, the Norwegian Sequencing Centre (NSC) and Proteomics services.

Qualification requirements

Preferred candidates should have

• A PhD or other corresponding education equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or similar field. Doctoral dissertation must be submitted for evaluation by the closing date. Appointment is dependent on the public defence of the doctoral thesis being approved.
• Hands-on experience with vertebrate cell biology and advanced imaging techniques, preferably live imaging.
• Competitive publication track record.
• Documented experience with intracellular transport and/or cell migration is a strong advantage.
• Fluent oral and written communication skills in English.
