University of South-Eastern Norway has about 18 000 students and about 1500 employees. The university is organized in four faculties, with instruction and R&D activities on eight campuses. The Faculty of Technology, Natural Sciences and Maritime Sciences has a vacancy for a two-year position as Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Bio-electrochemical research at Department of Microsystems. Commencement as soon as possible.

The position is associated with the Department of Microsystems and reports to the Head of Department. The place of employment is Campus Vestfold - Horten.

Qualifications

  • A PhD within material or micro/nano technology.
  • An interest in functional materials and bio-electrochemical research.
  • Expertise in low dimension materials and/or bio-electrochemical technology
  • A strong academic record.

Emphasis will also be placed on:

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong skills in micro-fabrication laboratory techniques.
  • Experience with molecular dynamics, and/or biology laboratory techniques

Information about the positionFaculty of Technology, Natural Sciences and Maritime Sciences (TNM) invites applicants for a two-year postdoc position connected to research within advanced electrode material and nanostructure for Bio- electrochemical technology.The research topics for the position will be within the USN strategic supported research project “Climate and Energy”. The candidate will be involved in developing networks of low dimensional materials for porous electrodes with micro/nano hybrid features, large surface gain, high conductivity and bioelectrochemical active sites hosting microorganisms. Another task is optimizing micro/nano hybrid features and the active sites to assure heavy mass loading of microorganisms, capable of high speed for particle (ions) diffusion/mass transfer in the 3D bioelectrodes.

The period of employment for the position is 2 years. The postdoc fellow will work within the project-team BECs at TNM located at Campus Vestfold and Campus Porsgrunn. The postdoc fellow will be expected to be able to work independently and as part of a group. The position has the objective of qualifying for higher academic positions.

SalaryPostdoctoral fellow (postdoktor) (code 1352): NOK 515 200 – 658 300 a year, depending on seniority. A statutory contribution will be made from the employee’s salary to the state pension plan.
