Postdoctoral Research Fellow - Investigating dynamic RNA modifications in development and cancer

About the position

Applications are invited for a 3 year position as Postdoctoral Fellow to be based at the University of Oslo’s Institute for Basic Medical Sciences, Department of Molecular Medicine, Division of biochemistry.

The position is affiliated with prof. Arne Klungland’s research group focusing on epigenetics and embryonic development. The position is in one of Norway’s top-rated, international research environments. We are equipped with modern, state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. The research group is located at Oslo University Hospital, Department of Microbiology.

Our research is focused on understanding the mechanisms of dynamic histone and RNA modifications in embryo development and cancer. These mechanisms, also known as epigenetic and epitranscriptomic regulation have profound effect on the development of an organism and the differentiation of normal cells to cancer cells. In particular, recent pioneering work in the field of RNA regulation and novel methodology for analysing single cells now enables novel studies on valuable biological material such as oocytes and small number of cells from tumour tissue.

The candidate for this position will focus on characterizing novel mechanisms for gene regulation and the identification of underlying genes and enzymes.

The main purpose of the fellowship is to qualify researchers for work in higher academic positions within their disciplines.
