University of South-Eastern Norway has about 18 000 students and about 1600 employees. The university is organized in four faculties, with instruction and R&D activities on eight campuses. The main profile of the university is to provide socially relevant education, geared towards specific professions, and adapted to the requirements of the workplace, as well as to produce applied research and development.

The Department of Research and Internationalisation has one vacant permanent (100 %) position as Project Administrator (post award) from the 1st January 2019. The position is based in the Research and Innovation Unit and will report to Vice Rector. The place of employment will be USNs Campus Vestfold.

We are seeking an experienced Project Administrator to work in the Research and Innovation unit and be administratively responsible for European Commission (EC) projects including Horizon 2020 and other active research and innovation projects at USN. During the first few years, the candidate will support our newest EU projects at the Department of Maritime Operations, among others. The portfolio of projects at USN will vary over time and the candidate will provide support from the Research and innovation Unit according to needs.

The candidate will become part of the funding team in the Research and Innovation Unit and will have responsibility for the administrative aspects of a number of key international research projects. Through this position the candidate will get an opportunity to work with some of USNs most exciting and dynamic research groups. The candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day support of the project coordinators and ensure the smooth running of the projects. This will entail work in planning, communication, documentation and reporting. Typical activities will include organising meetings and workshops, communicating with project partners, collecting information for reporting, assisting in compiling reports and administrating online systems, as well as various communication activities such as maintaining project websites.

Qualifications

Education to a Postgraduate level is preferred with a good academic background. The successful candidate will have a good knowledge and understanding of financial and technical reporting procedures with the ability to operate in collaborative project consortia. Experience in project administration of EU projects is desirable.

The ability to manage the administration and financial oversight, project management, of the research projects is a requirement for this role. The candidate will work closely with the Financial Unit at USN for the later. It is also desirable with competence in legal subjects.Excellent IT skills are essential for this role and the knowledge of University procedures would be desirable together with experience of dealing with International teams. In addition, an excellent command in English is required, knowledge of a Scandinavian language may be advantageous.

Duties and responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Manage day to day running of projects together with the coordinators
  • Support in reporting to funding bodies such as the EC
  • Support in compiling deliverables
  • Make arrangements for International mobilities
  • Organise project meetings and workshops
  • Communicate with national and international partners
  • Maintain project websites and social media
  • Act as a contact point for projects towards other Units in USN

Salary

Project Manager (code 1113 prosjektleder): NOK 524 200 – 675 500 a year. Salary depending on seniority. In special cases, higher salary may be considered. A statutory contribution will be made to the state pension.
